Carl Schmitt, RED HORSE BARN (C. 1939)
$1,250.00
Beautiful pastel from twentieth-century Silvermine artist Carl Schmitt (1889-1989).
This piece is believed to have been done in the late 1930s or 1940s, after Schmitt’s return from Italy.
The barn had belonged to his father-in-law, Austin W. Lloyd, who died in 1922. Schmitt lived in the adjacent house with his family and mother-in-law.
Schmitt gifted this pastel to his close friend William Ryan.
