Cesar Cuyo, THE BAPTISM
Cesar Cuyo, THE BAPTISM
$125.00
A village baptism by Ecuadorean folk artist Cesar Cuyo. The painting is acrylic on animal skin. The parents and godparents gather before the priest who appropriately has his text open to the rite of baptism. The artist shows no regard for proportion or perspective as the priest is more than half the height of the church that stands next to him.
The date of this work is uncertain. The Tucson Museum of Art holds another painting by Cesar Cuyo which it dates to the 1990s.
