Cyrus Afsary was born and raised in the Middle East but has since resided in the United States and has made himself into a highly sought-after painter of scenes of the American West. This piece dates from an earlier period. His skill was already considerable and is on full display in this charming portrait of a Middle Eastern man and his camel.

Oil on canvas. Canvas was attached to a backing and some of the glue appears to have bled through to the front of the canvas. Nonetheless, the aesthetic impact of the painting remains strong.
