Gibbs Milliken (1935-2007) was a Texas artist. He graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio and subsequently joined the art faculty at The University of Texas at Austin, where he remained until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and naturalist. His deep, direct engagement with the natural world is evident in this painting.
